Dr. Moore joined the Medical Laboratory Science program in 2019 as an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. His current teaching focuses on Molecular Diagnostics, Human Genetics, and Clinical Research. His research focuses on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning pertaining to methods for training high school students in lab and data science careers. He served as a faculty member of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program at the University of Texas at El Paso between 2013-2019. Receiving his PhD in Experimental Pathology in 2006 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, his research training focused on the molecular mechanisms of autoimmunity. He has published in the fields of autoimmunity and barriers to HIV testing in sub-Saharan Africa. Before entering academia, he worked as a transplant technologist with the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he earned his Histocompatibility Technologist certification. He is currently licensed in the State of TN as a Laboratory professional and certified as a generalist with the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
