Summary

Feel the spine-tingling thrill of… thinking!

In this blast-from-the-past sci-fi adventure, join Dr. Blake and his guests from Planet Axon for a mind-bending ride through the biology of the brain. How do impulses reach the brain? What is gray matter? Why do brain cells communicate? Learn about the difference between “brain” and “mind,” and explore the way we humans perceive the world, through the eyes of a very perplexed alien race!

Called a “happy collision of art and science” by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the film Gray Matters was created by the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University in partnership with the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative. In 2000, it debuted at the Carnegie Science Center as an interactive multimedia planetarium show, where the audience collaborated to determine the level of zoom!
