Valerie is the Communications Director for the Center for Interdisciplinary Inquiry and Innovation in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Ci3) at the University of Chicago. Valerie develops and manages the execution of strategic internal and external communications plans to build Ci3’s brand equity and recognition. She leads the communications team and collaborates with units across the organization to strategically position the Center to a variety of target audiences using an integrated communications mix of digital marketing, media relations, and visual design.
Valerie leads the communications, marketing, and recruitment strategy for Hexacago Health Academy, a SEPA-funded, game-based science and health program that engages high school students in learning about and addressing major health issues through game play, interaction with STEM and health professionals. She works with her team to successfully execute strategic communications plans that have earned Ci3 national and international award recognition, as well as notable news coverage in some of the nation's top media outlets.
Valerie earned an MBA in Marketing from American InterContinental University, an MS in Journalism from Roosevelt University, and a BA in Mass Communications from the Ohio State University.
