BiblioTech™ “Jadyn’s Journey to Health - Life with a New Liver”
Summary
An interactive reading experience about the liver and its functions
Jadyn is a kid with lots of interests and talents. He loves soccer, Halloween, hanging out with his friends, and especially, playing the ukulele. But Jadyn can’t do all of the things he wants to, like go to summer camp, because of his liver. He has metabolic liver disease.
So when Jadyn learns he needs a liver transplant, he has lots of questions. What will surgery be like? Can I do all the things I want to after my transplant, like go to summer camp? Why do I need to take medication?
Help Jadyn become healthy and strong by learning everything he can during his journey from the hospital to recovery at home, and beyond. Interact with his transplant team of doctors, nurses, and specialists, who will answer all of Jadyn’s questions. Help Jadyn learn how to take good care of his new liver and understand why it’s important that he takes anti-rejection medication!

Developed in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital Hillman Center for Pediatric Transplantation, “Jadyn’s Journey to Health” is a teaching resource for young liver transplant patients with metabolic liver disease and their families as they go through the transplant process. It can also help late elementary and middle school-aged audiences learn more about the immune system and the liver.
